How I use the internet Today

I use the internet every day to research homework, watch videos, check out what is happening around the world, and most importantly check out the sports world. I usually check my teams website ,the lakers, or check out anything that has to deal with the NBA. On the weekends, Since I have relatives in the Philippines, my family and I would contact them over Yahoo Messenger. Yahoo messenger is a good way to contact family members, especially the ones you didn’t see before. Other wise I use the internet to search music videos or watch NBA videos. Since there are some stores that aren’t located here on Oahu, I would just buy things online from stores on the mainland. For example, I bought a Lakers jersey at the Dick’s sporting goods website. Because school now a days require internet sources to do homework, I would always use it to search my homework. Another thing that I use the computer for is to find cheat codes for video games. Sometimes I would get bored playing the game over and over, so I would just find codes to unlock special things for the game or any other hidden things. Since I have an Ipod, I would always use iTunes to download music and download apps for my iTouch. The important thing that I use the internet for is if I have trouble with homework, i would use the internet to teach me. There are a lot of uses of the internet, and without it, I think I wouldn’t be able to know anything in life.

First Communication Device

My first communication device was a two way walkie-talkie. It was sort of like a handheld telephone that you could bring any where and receive wireless transmission. I didn’t know what it was until I turned both walkie-talkies on and heard myself on the other walkie-talkie. One time I didn’t want to get near it because, there was an incident where I heard a transmission from the police. Overtime I got over it, and used the walkie-talkie to play with my power ranger toys. I would do anything to have fun with it because I didn’t have a brother yet, but eventually broke, so my brother couldn’t use it. The walkie-talkie was a very special communication device that allowed me to have fun back when I was young.

I think without this communication tool, cell phones wouldn’t have been invented. The walkie-talkie is already sort of like a cell phone, except no numbers. Because someone invented the walkie-talkie, we now have cell phones that are revolutionized every year.

In the near future, what I would like to see or use is a phone that consists of a phone of course, but also internet, or computer technology such as windows. On that phone, I would also like to see a built in mp3 player and as well as a built in T.V., so I could watch games especially NBA games. I just hope that someone will make this dream phone so that I could buy it one day.

My Chemistry Homework- Blog assignment

Over the weekend, I had to do a dry ice lab for chemistry. This lab required me to use Microsoft word since that is the type of document I have. Microsoft word is a document in which you can make various types of writing, whether if it is making a letter or making a poster for something. Next is the type of font and font changer, which consists of 100 different types of fonts, but the font that I am going to use is times new roman, most commonly used font, and the font changer, which you use to change the size of the font from 8(smallest) and 72(largest) but I am going to stick with size 12 font, the normal size font. The next tool is spell check, which is a type of system in which it can see if you have mis spelled words or if you grammar is not correct. Since I sometimes don’t trust spell check, I use the auto correct feature which capitalizes words and makes sure that caps is not on. For me, to make life easier I use the built- in Auto Text, which completes the word for me, for example: if I were to type in wedn, it’ll automatically show a sign next to the word and it would say enter the word Wednesday. Another tool that is essential is the mouse. For this lab especially, the mouse is needed because I can use it to scroll down the page, use right click to copy and paste things, and use it to click on the boxes or graphs so I can do it on the computer instead of writing the numbers and words in. The last tool that I didn’t mention is the keyboard, the most important tool that is needed to even make the lab report happen. The Keyboard consists of the alphabets, numbers, and other things such as arrows etc. the keyboard is used for typing words into the document and in some cases maybe used for shortcuts, such as control(ctrl) + p, to print documents. Without these things, I wouldn’t be able to finish my chemistry lab, and without the keyboard, I wouldn’t even be typing this blog assignment right now.

Kobe madison Square Garden Theme

The power on process consists of a lot of components to actually turn on the PC. This process takes only a couple of seconds to send, receive, hash, and memorize bits and bytes of data rushing through the system like a busy terminal lapse. The first component that gets activated when you turn on the computer is the CPU, or the microprocessor. It is the brain, boss and bully and the enforcer of the entire system. The signal places a specific hexadecimal number,FOOO, into the digital notepads called the program counter. whatever number is in this program counter tells the CPU the memory address of the next instruction it needs to process. The chip that holds the information about everything about of your computer, is called the BIOS. The BIOS is fundamental to the computer’s basic input/output system. The BIOS then takes the task of waking up the other components of the computer with a power on self test(POST) to make sure necessary parts of the computer are functioning and working properly and are present. The BIOS first checks the complementary metal oxide semiconductor(CMOS), which is kept alive by a small battery and contains the official record of installed products on your computer. After this the BIOS and CPU checks to make sure that they are working and the BIOS instructs the CPU to read code stored in various locations. Other things that happens after this are components connecting to outside devices like that of the mouse, keyboard, hard drive, floppy drive etc. The real time clock synchronizes all components of the computer to check that they are working and are paced to do their jobs. The system bus also does the same and checks all the components to see if it is working. In the end the POST send signals to floppy drives, optical drives and hard disk drives, which ends the POST ad BIOS transfers control of the PC to the operating system on the hard disk called the boot process. It really takes a lot of components to start up the PC, but in the end, the PC is all yours to use.

The motherboard consists of a lot of complex mechanisms that allow the computer to work, and those mechanisms have their own jobs as well. When you think about the motherboard, you think about “the mother of the computer, or the brains.” The motherboard consists of , memory slots color coded to tell you where to place matching memory cards. The CPU socket is the microprocessor, or central processing unit, which is the brains of the computer. Power supply connections and IDE connectors can be found in the motherboard along with the Bus, which is used to send data to any of the motherboards components. The battery keeps the BIOS chip alive, the BIOS chip is the first component to come to life, providing enough code to wake up the rest of the hardware. The BIOS contains codes to support specific types of processors, drives and other functions that might need updating occasionally. North bridge and south bridges form the computer’s chip set and determines the performance and capabilities of the PC. The north bridge and south bridge has different functions even though they are formed into one chip. Like the north bridge chip provides controls for the computer’s graphic(RAM), and the front side bus, which which is the main highway for connecting graphics and memory to the CPU. The south bridge on the other hand is in charge of input/output with disk drives, audio, networking, USB, and firewire communications. Other components not mentioned are the port 80 display, ports for external devices, expansion slots, front panel connections for the on/off switch, reset power, and hard drive switch. When you think of it, the motherboard can sound complex, but it is not, its very complex with a lot of components and chips to help the computer come to life. Without it, the computer is nothing.

The kind of computer that I have at home is an HP Pavilion laptop and this computer runs on Windows Vista software. All software on this computer is already installed, including windows microsoft word, HP quick play for making DVD’s or slide show, HP photosmart for photoshops, HP total care adviser and HP solution center for looking for any malicious software and updating important things. This laptop computer is very unique because it fixes all problems automatically, backs up data, and updates everything without the need for the owner. The hardware that is included with this HP pavillion laptop is the latest mobile AMD turion 64×2 dual processor, this helps to extend the battery life, built in HP pavilion webcam and discret NVIDIA GeForce graphics with pure video technology, 2 GB DDR2 memory, 160 GB 5400 RPM SATA Hard drive, and the light scribe super Multi 8X DVD+/- RW with double layer support. Other type of hardwre are the dv6000 control, which can access the computer from up to 10 feet away, standard 6 cell or 12 cell battery, intergrated wireless support, an express slot/54 slot, 3 USB ports, 5 in 1 media card, it includes approximately 1240 MB of hard drive and the HP printer. For me ,I wouldn’t want any another computer than this HP Pavilion laptop because I am fortunate to even have a computer as this one, and plus it is very efficient and when I need any help with homework, looking at my favorite teams website, sports websites, watch videos about sports, or just checking what is up with the news around the island and around the world, my HP Pavilion laptop is there for me.

Evolution of Technology over the years that transformed into the home computers we use today

The evolution of technology over the years have changed since the first computer ever was invented in 1822, the analytical engine by Charles Babbage. It was comprised of mainly 2,000 handmade brass, and has 25,000 parts and would weigh 3 tons. Then Hermann Hollerith in 1888 revolutionized the analytical engine and created to what has become the IBM ( International Business Machines ). This type of machine punched cards to tabulate the 1980 census. This device tabulated results in six weeks rather than the seven years , which took for the census to be compiled by hand. The ENIAC ( Electronic Numerical Integrator Analyzer and Computer ), built between 1943 and 1945, was the first all-electronic computer, This type of machine was used by the U.S. Army to produce missile trajectory tables. It consumed 200 kilowatts of energy, making it more of an oven than a computer. The computer thus grew increasingly smaller, and more powerful, in which the first computer cheap enough, the altair 8800, made by Micro Instrumentation and Telemetry Systems( MITS ), and costs 397 dollars, but without any keyboard or screen. Since there were no keyboard on the Altair 8800, programs and data were both entered by clicking switches on the front of it, and since there was no monitor, results were read by interpreting a pattern of small red lights. The first computer that came with a display, built in key board , and disk storage was invented by two hackers- Stephen Jobs and Steve Wozniak, in 1976, who began hawking computers at computer clubs in California. They called this specific computer the apple. This apple computer had a program in it called VisiCalc, which did the math of an electronic ledger sheet. So over the years, a lot of intelligent people revolutionized the computer and technology, making it better and adding additional things that will make it perform better. But the revolution of computer’s doesn’t just stop there, people now a days are still making technology better. Computer’s now have Monitors that are flat, or some have bigger ones, it now has a mouse, keyboard and now their are even portable computers such as laptops. So when you come to think of it, it is like the computer, technology has somewhat grew up over years and will keep on growing into technology that will someday may save our lives.

My favorite types of web videos are basketball, NBA videos, whether if its dunks, buzzer beaters, bloopers, or emotional games. Overall, my favorite type of basketball videos are, dunks because it shows the athleticism of the NBA, but I also like everything else about NBA videos. When I watch these videos, it gets me hyped up even more to play basketball, work harder, practice harder, and give a 100% every time I get on that floor. I want to play like those NBA players that I had watched on those videos. Whether if it is Kobe Bryant( Los Angeles Lakers ) putting his team on his back and winning the game, or LeBron James( Cleveland Cavaliers ) on a fast break getting ready for an alley-oop dunk or “posterizing” someone under the basket, or Rasheed Wallace( Boston Celtics ) arguing a call and getting thrown out of the game when his team needs him to win, or Devin Harris( New Jersey Nets) hitting a game winning half-court buzzer beater to win the game in desperation time,or especially a young player in Shannon Brown( Los Angeles Lakers ), who brings athleticism and energy off the bench. All of these videos inspire me to try my best and work harder and have faith that someday I may play professional basketball. Basketball videos showed me a lot of things, showing determination on the court, showing my talent and the level of potential that I have, but also off the court in school, working harder and giving most everything that I do a 100%.
